Three congregations from three denominations – Anglican, Lutheran and Presbyterian – share one church building in Mississauga, Ont. Although they have separate sanctuaries, the Anglican parish of St. Francis of Assisi and Meadowvale Lutheran are exploring ways to live out “full communion.” Last summer, the Lutheran congregation worshipped in the Anglican sanctuary during July while the Lutheran pastor was on vacation; the next month, Anglicans attended services in the Lutheran sanctuary while the Anglican rector was away. “Our experience has opened doors to continued shared ministry without losing our identities,” wrote Anglican rector Ann Smith in the diocese of Toronto’s newspaper.
