At the edge of Ground Zero

Six months to the day after the terrorist attack on New York City, the interior of St. Paul’s Chapel adjacent to the site where the twin towers of the World Trade Center stood, remains decorated with banners and hundreds of letters from school children expressing sympathy for victims. The chapel, which was undamaged in the attack, remains a place of refuge for workers cleaning up the site and a place where friends and families of victims still come to meditate, to pray and to weep. Just outside the church is a ramp leading to an observation deck overlooking Ground Zero.
