I see the value in not wearing all the ceremonial garments though I grew up in U K, knowing their meaning. I am 81 and believe there is plenty to say in favour of not overdoing the 'ornaments every Sunday.Last week was exceptionally hot and our rector just wore a simple stole over his black daily clothes. since he doubles once a month as a guitar player with our Praise Band, this is easier.I do enjoy seeing all the usual robing at high holidays and services of ordination; they are then more symbolic for me. When you think of imitating Jesus, He went out with the same robe daily( usual daily dress of ist Century); it allowed him to mix easily, to go out to people to heal , teach and pray with them. That is a high and wonderful way to follow.

Jamie Howison has summed it up well - informal for some occasions - formal for others. I hold services outside in Mexico (home church) and still wear an alb and stole. On special occasions I add the chasuble. I do feel the visual and colour in ritual and ceremony lends much to Anglican worship and it would be sad to see that go....time and place for everything.
