A note from the editor on the new anglicanjournal.com

Dear readers of anglicanjournal.com,

I hope you are all keeping well despite the trying times.

You may have noticed our site is different today, in a number of ways. The changes are part of a project we and partners in dioceses across the country have been working on for many months. You can find out more about the project in a news story by the Journal’s new staff writer, Sean Frankling, published today. But I’d also like to tell you about it directly. I believe it will mean a more interesting, more enriching experience for readers across the country, and here are some of the reasons why.

The most exciting part of the project is Anglican News Canada—an entirely new platform that brings together under a single umbrella anglicanjournal.com and a growing number of diocesan newspapers. This new central site will allow Anglicans across the country to connect with each other in a way that has never before been possible: with just a few taps or clicks of the mouse, you’ll be able to access an unprecedented amount of local, national and international news about the church, plus spiritual reflection, reviews and more.

Another important element has been a redesign of anglicanjournal.com itself. On our new site, you’ll find not only just an updated look and feel. You’ll find handy links to the news sites of diocesan partners—and you’ll also be able to read select stories from them without even leaving our site. Plus, a list of “trending” articles allows you to see at a glance what your fellow Anglicans are reading most.

Part of this project has been deciding what’s no longer needed. Our commitment to journalistic excellence remains our top priority, and we are committed to open communication and fostering dialogue around Journal content. However, we have made the decision to transition from inviting online comments on articles, and our new site does not feature a Comments section. We want you to know, however, that we continue to encourage letters, as well as comments on social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter, which are more designed for online conversations.

I hope you enjoy exploring the new anglicanjournal.com, and anglicannews.ca.

All the best,

Tali Folkins
